Hoosier Energy Co-op FREE Weatherization Program

Hoosier Energy ,  their Touchstone Cooperatives and Sherlock Homes teamed up to provide free comprehensive energy evaluations, audits, diagnostics and repairs to qualifying members through a demand side management program starting in 2008. The results included nearly 5,000 energy evaluations, 3,000 diagnostic audits & over 2,500 weatherized homes.


Energy efficiency improvements can help you make big changes in the way you use energy & manage your electric bill. The U.S Department of Energy advises addressing air leaks, ductwork and insulation before investing in new heating and cooling equipment. Free efficiency measures and repairs implemented through your co-op’s weatherization program may include air sealing, duct sealing, adding insulation, adding water heater blankets & pipe wrapping, installing low flow showerheads and aerators, installing CFL bulbs and addressing indoor air quality.
